SUMMARY
High school senior Declan Sullivan just returned to Norfolk, a predominantly Irish Catholic Boston suburb, from a summer church trip to Ireland. After a summer spent gazing across the sea with his new Irish girlfriend,Kaitlyn, Declan returns home with a bold new direction and an engagement to Kaitlyn. This year he’ll save his money for the wedding, bring Kaitlyn to the States and join the Coast Guard after he graduates high school. His family thinks he’s crazy and some of his friends doubt Kaitlyn’s existence.

Shortly after Declan’s return, the town is shaken by a mysterious murder of a classmate of Declan’s. The murderer is still on the loose and everyone is on edge.

To make matters worse, letters telling deep dark secrets begin to appear in mailboxes all over the town of Norfolk. One letter details the school principal’s drinking problem. Another tells a young student that his real father is someone his mother had an affair with. Another reveals a priest’s molestation of a child parishioner. Will a letter arrive revealing who murdered the local high school student? Who will get one next? The letters seem targeted to tear apart the very fabric of this community.

While the letters haunt Norfolk, its citizens try to keep living their lives. Teenagers raise hell. They fall in and out of love. Hockey games on the frozen reservoir continue. The school musical goes on, albeit as a fiasco. Parents work their jobs, attempting to keep things together, knowing their quiet town could change at any moment.
